The production area of the Sorrento Lemon includes most of the territory of the municipalities of Vico Equense, Meta, Piano di Sorrento, Sant’Agnello, Sorrento, Massa Lubrense, Capri and Anacapri. In this area the Limone di Sorrento is cultivated according to strict discipline, which provides for the use of traditional techniques and a drastic limitation of the use of fertilizers and pesticides. The protection of the Lemon of Sorrento is a unique type of protection, compared to all other igp of the European Community, because it protects fresh lemon, as it is produced in nature, but also transformed lemon. In other words the law protects the Sorrento Lemon even when it enters the factory to be transformed into liqueur, jam, ice cream or soap. It follows that the true guarantee of the product lies in the goodness of its ingredient.
